Today I trimmed the leaves back off of my hellebores - the most protected ones are just starting to produce their flower buds. First signs of spring!

this is the best year I can remember for the camellia
the week after this picture was taken we had very cold temps (single digits) -- I wrapped it up in christmas lights and covered in 3 quilts. some of the buds survived but the open ones are all brown and mushy.
